Where is my salary?

The work that women do at home is also economic activity but it goes unaccounted. Simply changing the word "housewife" to "homemaker" is not enough. "Why should homemaker be paid and how can be paid?" is the question pricking many hearts of Indians. I have felt the same way without putting myself in other's shoes. Yes.Women love their family and they are caregiving for love and affection. Does that mean they don't have preferences, hobbies, interests etc There are women, whose husband will not give any pocket money to spend? Many men simply say that I am buying all groceries, vegetables, milk and why should I give money to you.  Will men accept the same thing? In many joint families, elders control the finances and will not give any money without proper explanation. The explanation should be convincing for them. My mother has said me that in her marital home, sanitary napkins are considered as an unnecessary expense, and the request to purchase has been denied.Still, there are many families in which finances are controlled by male members of the family. I met a woman in the park, she refused to buy an air balloon for her kids and she turned towards me and said " what can I do? My husband never gives me even a penny". A woman said this to a complete stranger.The woman said the same man will give pocket money to their kids.My friend was looking for a Montessori course to restart her career ,but her husband rigidly refused. They bought a car. Money is not spent on what interests women . Instead, it is spent on what men think as vital. Everyone has the habit of spending money on what they feel important . If some unaccountable money given to women, she can spend as per her wish. Men are not obliged to give accounts for each and every penny they spend. Women have to give accounts for grocery bill too. This implies that money belongs to men and women don't have any control over it. Let a women be married for many years,let her have toiled for so long hours, when it comes to spending for her siblings or parents, the only statement is she is unemployed and she cannot spare for her kith and kin. A woman can spend for her parents if she has some money to state as her own. Let men start to change towards finances.
